View Full Version : Rogue build and weapons.
Hey Method rogues.
I am a rogue myself on Sylvanas also, though a horde one, i just wanted to ask some of the rogues about some stuff about arena weps and talent builds.
Firstly, i have enough to buy me a arena weapon next week, so i was wondering what kind of the weapons would be best for pve? and what talents build i should use with it. Though i already have the gladiator's shanker and Malchazeen, and if daggers are best which build should i use there?
Thanks for your time, Kink Sylvanas, Sacred Sin.
I am non Method rogue on alliance side. It all depends what u do. If u are a raider i.e. in a proper PvE guild and u use dagger, i strongly recommend that you go 15/41/5, with 5 points in opportunity. The disadvantage of it is that u dont have imp. sap but who cares, next patch is coming.
If u have access to 2 arena weapons, i would strongly recommend u going combat fist, as it is higher dps than daggers in most situations simply for reason that sometimes u cant backstab some mobs. (like sparks at curator or midnight).
However, if u are going PvP u use good old cold blood + preparation build, with dirty deeds or even vigot build for efffective stunlocking. In arena, however, combat pwnz ass if u got proper healer.

Thanks, though yeah it is for PvE raiding. I was thinking about the combat fist thing, but do you have any suggestions of how i should set up my talents?

For PvE i would actually recommend combat swords :) Sword spec > Fist Spec.
Combat dagger builds are also very good, its all about play style and what matches your gear. Afaik alot of raiding rogues use a combat dagger build.

This statement is false, everything has a "Back" and can be back stabbed even sparks are curator.

I suck but this is what i'd go for with a PvE combat fist spec.

Firstly arena fist got higher max damage than the sword (though lower min damage)
Secondly fist build pwnz sword simply coz its 5% crit over 5% extra hit because many talents enhance the damage done by critical strikes i.e. mostly crits are much more than double of a normal hit.
In concern to sparks at curator u are right, yes, but in many situations e.g. midnight which kicks with his back legs, as well as when tank is the further one from the raid and on the border of aggro radius of other mobs its is hard or even impossible to backstab without pulling.
IMHO

Hello there, let me start of that my post will handle only pve as it is what you are asking for. If you have enough arena points for a main hand weapon i suggest you pick up the sword.
There are two huge buffs to sword specialization in 2.1 First of all, the extra attacks resetting auto attack timer bug is fixed.
So if you are 0.5 second away from swinging your MH, and your sinister strike generates an extra attack, you get the full benefit of the exta attack, and your normal swing comes out right after.
Even better, the extra attacks are now considered yellow damage, so a combat rogue’s extra attacks can only be dodged, parried, but no longer suffer from dual wield penalty when it comes to misses.
Remember that even your offhand sword procc triggers your main hands extra attack. With offhand gladiator weapons reduced to 1.5 speed this is a good buff for us. I have been using fist specc for a while but i have been forced to use a lvl 60 offhand due to its speed when i bank my gladiator fist until 2.1.
Offhand fist “procsâ€
And sorry Kink, i dont have access to wowhead or anything on a school network to show u talent setup. i know u dont need crap like opportunity for combat fist as well as imp gouge. just be sensible
Alright, thanks everybody, was a great help :)
Theres just one thing about the build you posted zeuzo, why did you choose 1 point in Vile Poison and 1 point in Imp. kick?

You need 1 point to reach the 41 point talent in the combat tree (you can basicly choose what ever filler you need) and the other point is that you get 4 % dmg from your poisons.

Does C'thun have a back?

Even totems on fathom lord have a "back". It just takes a bit more effort to find it :P
Edit: I am a dagger rogue myself btw, and I have no problems keeping up with the other rogues in method atm, and about midnight and all, u just need to find the dead angle from where u can backstab, but not get hit. So yes, dagger specs are very viable in pve.

Dagger rogue myself, and I'll put down my 5 cents, Dagger rogues are very viable in PVE. And yeah even totems can be backstabbed ;) Just takes a little strafing, but it can be done.
I'm 15/41/5 myself liking the build, screw imp sap :P
Tho I wouldnt hesitate going fists or maces again, or even the new and improved sword spec. Like Zeuzo pointed out, come next patch it'll be a very viable spec again. Should see a nice dps increase.
