[How to ?] Disc priest, cap stats, mana regen

Hi guys, i'm french so i hope that you'll understand my english ^^.

I play only one class : priest. I love it and i won't change it for anything else in WoW.
Anyway, i'm tryin to figure out the stat caps of this class, i mean spirit, spelldamage, hit (when i'm in shadow), haste...

So i tryied a lot of configurations : full spirit, spirit/spelldamage, haste ? And to be honest, i'm lost :\
I kept the "spirit" configuration, because i think that for my "spam-healing-on-the-raid" way to play, it's the best way to stay up to 80% mana all the way during a fight.

In a 25 raid, i have 2,1k spell damage, 1400 mana regeneration and 1900 mana regeneration when i use my trinkets.

I'm lookin for some advices from really good holy of disc priest from "method", because you're just the best of the best (i think :p), and i think that you can be a good help to me ^^

First thing first, you're using the wrong meta, go for Insightful Earthsige Diamond - it's superior for any healer.

Secondly, you have too much mp5 on your gear, try to avoid that gear, because you scale a lot better with spirit (you get +6% spirit from talents as disc). Also you're geming for spell power which is fine as long as you don't find yourself in any mana issues. When Ulduar comes out and the fights are challenging you will most likely get better results by geming intellect and stacking that stat as discipline (I'm talking about geming) because of 15% intellect from Mental Strength.

If you find yourself on 80%+ on mana most fights you should probably gem for haste/sp and just ignore most mana stats on your gear for now - or spec holy for more throughput (then you WILL run oom if you try :))

Finally, your spec. Move two points from improved DS to 5/5 Enlightment and Desperate Prayer. Imp DS doesn't stack with Shaman totem which is better anyway, so it's wasted talent points for 25 man (assuming you have a resto / elemental shaman present).

Okay, i think I understood all you advices.

So i'll change most of my mp5 gear for spirit gear. SP, intellect and haste gems (spirit gems ? if the nerf of the mana regen from 3.1 is too high for me)
And i'll change my meta when i'll get the t7(25 men) head, or better.

I think that in Ulduar, it will be better not to get the T8, and get the gear which will have more stats (and no skill bonuses).
What do you think about that ?

Your best stat for regen as disc (assuming you have raidbuffs) is intellect, so if you want more mana you stack intellect in gems. You also get 15% more intellect from Mental Strength as already said + 10% from BoK so every point of intellect is worth 1,265 intellect - you get a lot of "free" intem points. Spirit is not useless at all, but not something you should be geming for outside blue gem slots (8 spi+8 intel is best for regen in blue slots). To repeat myself: Mp5 is something you should try to avoid as it doesn't scale with any talents nor buffs and you get just as much regen from spirit / item point even with extremly low O5SR regen.

Gear with haste+crit and no regen at all (itemization like this: http://www.wowhead.com/?item=40374) is actually very good for disc if you find yourself constantly high on mana.

Speaking of discpriest, do you have any priest doing Ulduar as disc? It would be interesting to see a bosskill from a disc's PoV, since I play one on live atm :-)

We normally don't use a discpriest, but there are some exceptions for hard-hitting bosses but we like our 3*CoH pawnage :)

Both Bellise and myself will try to fraps a bit from Ulduar, I won't promise anything though.
