Hey there, now that Ulduar is live there is a hell lot of items with armor penetration
in T7 content most of the items were crit/haste (except hit ones), so there was not a great choice and I was stacking up crit and haste

now I started reading some articles to decide whether armor penetration is worth having (maybe instead of haste, which isnt that cool at all, as it only affects steady/auto shots)

I have found some websites saying armor penetration is wonderful (even 0.84 DPS per point, while haste is 0.24DPS per point), but there are other ones saying opposite (0.9DPS per haste point and 0.1DPS per armor penetration)

tbh, I have no idea which ones are more reliable, so I thought i might ask here ;) if I go for the same stats that Method hunters go for, then I shouldnt be too bad i think :)

Personally id go for stacking armor penetration (Lownita got hell lot of it now if i remember well), with maybe just a little bit of haste... and anyway, if penetration is in fact better, then is it worth taking some crappy T8 pieces (head and chest are cool, but rest, well...) for the set bonus?

Deify, gief your ideas! :D

Go for arP, worth more then haste atm. Specially in Ulduar when you have to move alot arP comes way ahead of haste.
You will get some haste from t8 parts while collecting the 4piece set bonus, would go for head/shoulders/chest/gloves for 4pieces, you can get pretty nice legs from Razorscale or even Yogg-Saron hard mode.

isnt ArP bad for hunters? since 40% dmg done or even more is Magicial

Thats really bad statement, since what is haste providing for Explosive Shot ?;o
Soft cap for SV hunter is 400-450haste, which is overkill ... in Ulduar you can't even notice the huge difference between lets say 200 and 300 haste or 300vs400, factors such as latency doesn't help you alot too.

^ Correct, Haste's crap once you reach a certain level. Crit Rating and ArP are the best fillers for hunters atm, Crit Rat > ArP though.
This is probably the best combination of stats you'll be looking for: http://www.wowhead.com/?item=45143

<< ArP is not that good tbh, but haste is useless. So go for ArP. - The Lower the target's armor is the lower you will benefit from your ArP Rat.. Bosses Armor + Sunder Armor = Fail >>

Actually deify i think you'll find it's better to take head, shoulders, chest and legs from t8, and grab the gloves from xt hard mode.
@the thread's original question ArP is more valuable to MM and Surv than haste is, on my spreadsheet as survival build i get 0.93 dps for ArP and 0.72 for haste. In my MM build i get 1.1 and 0.88 respectively.

If you use the sheet, best legs BY far are the leather one from hardmode yogg :> for 4pieces.

So you would go for ArP even in Surv spec? or just in MM?

Just for MMS ofc, when pet scaling gets into 3.3 Surv or even BM can go ahead.
Only time can tell, for now MMS is the way for raiding.
