Question for the healers!

Hey!

I just want to know if using mouseover's for the majority of my heals is bad practice? I have been playing my holy pala for a couple of years now and I started using mouseovers just over a year ago. I've managed just fine throughout my time using them, but all I want to know is; will I get caught out at all if I continue using them? Is there any disadvantage from using them?

It's a very subjective topic. It totally depends on your liking. There is no strong disadvantage on either side. I personally don't use it.

I'm looking for some ways to improve my resto druid pve healing as its seems to be rather avrege right now

What can I do besides upgrading gear,stats and mastering rotations?
Maybe share some good healer addons and macros you use.

So far I just made mouseover macros on healing and support spells so that they will cast on target, if no mouseover and on me if no target and no mouseover. like this:

Hey Artz

I use the same mouse-over macro and it works great for me. One of the important things to set up is Power Auras. Having visual notifications for your spell cooldowns and abilities is amazingly useful and helps you get your swiftmend/wildgrowth/etc cast on cooldown.

Beyond that, its mainly fight specific. Resto druids have a great arsenal of abilities to help healing when you know huge raid damage is comming. Keeping your swiftmend for just after damage occurs, setting up the new healing mushrooms, timing your wild-growth, Ironbark on the tank, etc, are all great ways of using what we have best to help the raid. Knowing what's coming in the next 10-20 seconds is probably the most important thing a resto druid needs to know.

Finally, tricks and abusing situations are often what puts you high up on meters. In 4.3, knowing that a resto shaman or feral druid had an increased healing taken and would actually cause swiftmend to heal more on the ground when you heal them over someone who didnt have increased healing taken played quite a big role on fights like Ultraxion and Spine. That comes with time and experience. Best of luck :)
